New Dindin at the Hacienda

Getting back into the groove here...this time only 2 months between musings...and I believe that I have a rant coming soon. But the rant will have to hold on until another eve...tonight is the night to wax lyrical about another gustatory delight.
This all starts innocently enough. I picked up the free local liberal fishwrap. Not because I agree with the editorial comments of those leftist pinko commies, but because I am amused by the leftist pinko commie cartoons and it has great music reviews.
Lovely bride also likes to peruse said fishwrap for reasons of her own.
Anyhooooo, Saturday we are out driving somewhere and love of my life says "there is a farmers market and craft show under the bridge this weekend, wanna check it out". Sure says I, secure in the knowledge that we have no cash so I will not be forced to buy ANYTHING. But I will get to be a good doobie and do something fun with the lovely bride at an approximate cost of $0.00. After all what could be better than spending quality time with the bride for free...and I like craft shows and farmers markets too. You always get to see neat stuff.
We browse, we window shop, we pick up merchandise and exclaim how we could make it better for 1/2 as much as these clowns are charging. We do all of this FOR FREE. What a great country....then we happen upon the Tapenade booth...with samples of....stuff...looks like pickle relish...on wafer thin rosemary crackers...no wonder he's giving away samples...who would ever buy this sh....
OHMYGODTHISISABSOLUTELYGREATYOUHAVETOTRYTHISMAYIPLEASEHAVEANOTHER!!
I have to settle for the samples you see, because I have no cash...what do you mean you have a WIRELESS credit/debit card machine??
Returning home, lovely bride decides to use this "stuff" (Gourmet Tapenade) in a new dish....
Fresh Mayport shrimp and bay scallops served over Whole Paycheck Organic Pasta with fresh herbs and ricotta goat cheese with her signature avacado summer salad....
SHEET 'dat dere is slap yo momma good...
Then for a follow up I come home tonight and she has sliced some leftover steak thin placed it on rosemary flatbread and loaded the avacado salad and goat cheese on top of that...it just doesn't get much better than that...
I only awarded her efforts a 9.5 out of 10...single servings just don't get 10's from me...and she MADE me share...
she got to have some...
Pooh got to have some...
thus cutting down my consumption and her score....maybe if she reads this she'll make some more...tonight would be good...its early....now she needs a dessert to finish it off...tonight would be good...it's early...I work late tomorrow...tonight???

Whodat Alawala

The 1st round of the draft is done. We experts can now pontificate freely on the errors made by those idiots that run OUR football teams. So with no further ado...
With the 10th pick of the draft the Jacksonville Jaguars pick...SOMEONE THAT NOBODY OUTSIDE OF CALIFORNIA HAS EVER HEARD OF!!!!!!
Way to go guys...picking Whodat Alawala will REALLY pack the fans into the stadium next year. Brilliant move on your part.
I am not saying that the Jags should have picked Tebow but I am saying that SOMEONE THAT WE HAVE HEARD OF would have been nice. But I gave the Jags the benefit of the doubt...until I checked out Whodat on line...Projected by MOST SCOUTS as a SECOND ROUND PICK.
The Jags picked him with the THE 10TH PICK OF THE FIRST ROUND....it isn't like we were picking 30...this was number 10!!! There were a LOT of players left on the board THAT I HAD HEARD OF...and LOTS of those players were projected as 1ST ROUND PICKS....morons, idiots, total dumb asses....
I have had it with the Jags scouting department...updating resume to send to Mr. Weaver tomorrow.
You see if he hires ME at least if MY picks don't make it people will say "wow who woulda thought that Mr. SUPPOSEDTOBEREALLYGOOD wouldn't make it at the next level". Instead of saying "what the hell was he thinking drafting Whodat with the number 10 pick".
I sir will draft recognizable names...names that will make fans want to buy tickets, names that will resonate with the fan base and make snot nosed kids want to run out and buy Supposedtobegoods new Jag jersey....WayneJackGene you didn't HAVE to get Tebow (although drafting the kid that grew up here, played here and went to the biggest college in the state probably would have put some butts in the seats...and he IS pretty good) but you HAD to generate some excitement and there were players that could have done that. It is time for ME to take over as GM...now how do I get Waynes address to send in my resume....
Don't snicker you all think you could run your teams better too....
And the worst part is this...after the draft we football fans have NOTHING until spring practice start...THIS IS IT...our last time to bitch and moan and to point and giggle and to look to the future with hope...until FOOTBALL SEASON actually starts...
Let the doldrums begin...

Just a moment ago

Oh my freaking god...I looked at the page and thought where the hell did the time go. I thought that 5-6 months worth of postings were what I missed. After all we burned out the modem in November and maybe I hadn't posted in a month before that....over a year...wow.
I can't believe that I remembered my password! I can't believe that the site did either.
Where did the time go?
The Rog mentioned to me once before that the part that sticks with him from the movie Bagger Vance is when Vance tells Junah "no suh, it was just a moment ago".
It seems like just a few days ago that I sat down and wrote that post about Dwayne..over a year...wow.
It was just last week, Elisha and I were sitting around a fire at the wing ding...and just last summer I was drowning Kevin and Max and Chewy in the pool. And just a few weeks ago I was at the Milltop in St Augustine proposing to my lovely bride (romantic picture huh)...I did set it up with the musician made sure the right music was playing and everything.
And it was just the other day that Tori was jumping off of the high tower at Stricklands Landing.
And it wasn't that long ago that I went skiing almost every week with Scott, Mo, Jerry, Dawn and the gang...I clearly remember graduating high school...no way it was over 30 years ago...
I remember a lot of firsts...
the first time I saw my nieces and nephews...they started you guys off really small
my first regular job...sweeping out the entryways at Heritage apartments, $25 weekly
The first time I saw the Rog (from the perspective of a kid laying down on the ground he looked about 12 feet tall)
My first concert...38 Special and Charlie Daniels...
My first car, my 1st 10 speed, my 1st set of golf clubs...ironically all of those were given to me by Dale and he took every one of them back....hmmmm
The first time I saw Tori (she was purple and covered with icky stuff and NOT beautiful no matter what Dawn and Jeanie say)...she became beautiful
The first time I met Elisha...our first kiss....
And I think of all of the stuff that I mean to do...you know, the stuff that you have to get to, but never seem to and then when you look up...time has passed...sometimes weeks and months, sometimes years....And you never got around to telling everyone how much they mean to you. How much you appreciate their calls and letters and e-mails. You never got around to taking the time to let them know how it has been your privilege to watch some of them them grow into young men and women starting their own lives. You never really sat down with your family, mom and dad, brother, sister...even the in-laws (mine are great) and told them how much you love them and how they have shaped you into the person that you are today (take it easy moms and dads it isn't ALL your fault).
Time passes so quickly... and all of those things that have brought you and me and everyone to this place in our lives and shaped us into the individuals that we are didn't happen in a dim and murky past...
It was just a moment ago...
